| The adrenaline builds as "Humble" Howard Glassman sets up to film me
talking about the show that he and Fred Patterson had just recorded on the second floor
mezzanine of the Fairmont Royal York in Downtown Toronto. They along with their Producer
originally drafted in a couple of guests for their show that day, but there were so many
famous names that I had to read from a list in order to keep track. Another exciting
edition for another exciting day with what perhaps to be Canada's most exciting piece of
new media produced thus far. |
|   |
| HumbleandFredRadio.com was recording a special edition for
Canadian Music Week, and I was (and still am) humbled to be an intern serving them. It's
an extension of their talents from radio to podcast that captures the interest of thousands
of listeners each work day, culminating in days like this where the guest list never ceases
to leave me starstruck. |
|   |
| I started as Humble and Fred's intern on a rather unusual note: I just
happened to break a smile in such an ungodly part of the morning and that turned into
"Phil the Friday Intern". It was completely unintentional - it's hard not to break a smile
when you get to meet such interesting and well-known people being interviewed by two...
interesting and well-known personalities. |
|   |
| The Canadian Music Week podcast turned out great, with guests varying
from former Canadian Idol judge Jake Gold to Our Lady Peace drummer Jeremy Taggart, who
labelled me "a human version of Jabba the Hutt but nice". |
|   |
| Why are Humble and Fred online? They wanted to try something
revolutionary after years apart. Heck, if anyone was going to create a podcast worthy of
being included in an event like Canadian Music Week, it'd be from these two, with all the
talent and experience they bring with them. |
|   |
| No, no one's paying me to write this stuff. |
|   |
| What did I learn most about being "Phil the Friday Intern"? There's no
way something like this could resemble a 9 to 5 job. If I could gather even a fifth of the
success that my bosses have garnered in just the past five months, I'd live out the rest
of my days as a happy man. |
